Everything started with one bin

I was 19 when my mom asked me to take care of the trash bins at our house.

It sounded simple. But when I went looking for someone to do it, I discovered something strange: there was no one to call. That service simply didn't exist. Nobody did it.

So I did something that makes me laugh a little today. I called all my friends' parents and asked them one single question: if there were someone who could take care of this for you, would you want it?

They all answered with almost the exact same words: "I've been looking for someone to do this for a while."

Those were my first customers. And right there, without knowing it yet, ZafaCare was born.

The "do-it-all-myself" era

At the beginning, ZafaCare was me. Nothing more.

I did every cleaning, every replacement, every call. I was learning the business from scratch while studying at the university at the same time. I had no time, no vehicle. I rented one just to be able to work, and I learned every part of this with my hands, not from behind a desk.

It wasn't glamorous. But every challenge taught me something that today is the heart of the brand: care, done right, isn't effort. It's a system.

I learned that caring well is a system

Going from doing everything alone to building something bigger forced me to truly learn. To find the right people. To trust a team. To hold the same standard on every visit, no matter how many homes we served.

I started doing it all myself. Today we're a full team: people in the field, in operations, in administration, in the content you're reading right now. Each person with a clear role and the same pride in doing things right.

And we grew. We started with fewer than ten customers a month. Today there are many, many more, in communities all across the island. The story isn't over: we're still building. But the standard is still the same as it was on day one.

What we really do

Let me confess something. ZafaCare's real product was never the cleaning.

It's the moment we give back to you.

We all have one of those chores: the one we push to the bottom of the list hoping it will solve itself. The one that takes up space in your head long before it takes up space on your calendar. We were taught that some things are simply the price of owning a home or running a business.

I never accepted that. I believe even the most forgotten detail deserves real care. And I believe that care, when someone else takes it on, becomes something very valuable: your peace of mind.

That's why ZafaCare doesn't sell a clean trash bin. It gives you back your Saturday. Your rest. That sigh of relief you feel when the thing you'd rather not think about is simply handled.

The work is the method. Peace is the promise.

What we're building

My goal is to care for thousands of homes and communities with the same rigor in every single one, and for that to become the norm, not the exception. For a category no one used to respect to become one people recognize by name. First across all of Puerto Rico. Then, beyond the island.

If I've learned anything in all these years, it's this: you don't need a grand idea to start. I started with a trash bin and a question. Start with what's in front of you, do it impeccably, and do it again tomorrow.

Thank you for being part of this story. To those who are already customers: thank you for letting us take care of that detail of your home. To those just getting to know us: welcome.

Breathe. We've got it handled.
